Understanding Your Menstrual Cycle

The menstrual cycle is controlled by hormone changes. Each month, the uterus grows a new lining (endometrium) to prepare for pregnancy. If pregnancy does not happen, the body sheds this lining during menstruation.

Phases of the Cycle

  • Menstrual phase (Days 1-5)
  • Follicular phase (Days 1-13)
  • Ovulation (Day 14)
  • Luteal phase (Days 15-28)
